2008 Shearing Weekend - 12 & 13 April 2008

Morning Moon Alpacas invites you to join us on Saturday, 12 April and Sunday, 13 April 2008 from 9 AM until 4 PM. On this weekend we will be celebrating the incredible fiber of the alpaca.

Saturday we will have fiber skirting, spinning, and weaving demonstrations. There will also be educational tours and opportunities to get up close and personal with the alpacas and other animals that live on our farm.

We will ONLY be shearing our alpacas on Sunday. This is a once a year event and how we gather our crop of fiber. Some fiber demonstrations and tours will be given that day, but we will be mostly busy shearing. It is a process that we hope you will get the opportunity to observe.

We think you will find either day's activities very educational and interesting. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and it will be a great day for an adventure in the country. (You will be most comfortable if you wear shoes and clothes that can possibly get dirty and/or muddy.)

Both days, we will have samples of items that are made from the luxurious alpaca fiber. Some items made from alpaca fiber such as sweaters (men's and ladies), socks (dress and boot), rovings (alpaca fiber ready to be hand spun into yarn), and yarn will be available for sale.

NOTE: The rest of the year, alpaca yarns and rovings from our animals are always available for sale at the shop we co-own with Dream Keeper Farm. The shop's name is My Favorite Yarn Shop in Warrenton, Virginia. Please visit our web site or call (540) 349-8355 for more information on how to get there and the shop's hours.

Please feel free to call Mike Six at (540) 439-8704 to schedule a farm visit if you cannot make it out this weekend. We are very proud to show and tell you about our farm and our magnificent alpacas.

Come and get up close and personal with Cocomo.
